Call for Art

• You must be a LMA member in good standing.  The requirement of attending two (2) meetings in 12 month period has been reinstated.  All other requirements apply.  For information about how to become a member, visit the "Join LMA" page. 

• ONLY WORKS THAT HAVE BEEN CREATED WITHIN THE LAST 3 YEARS AND HAVE NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY EXHIBITED IN ANY OTHER LMA SHOW WILL BE CONSIDERED.

The League of Milwaukee Artists is seeking artists' submissions for our upcoming members' spring exhibition AWAKENING, opening on April 3, 2025, and running through May 9, 2025, at  Wisconsin Lutheran College - Schlueter Art Gallery. 

Artists are encouraged to submit artwork consistent with the theme AWAKENING.

Awakening - coming into existence or awareness.

Maximum size is 3’ x 4’ and includes 3D entries.

Please, no nudes or political works in nature.

You can submit up to 3 entries for consideration. 

35 pieces will be selected for the show.

KEY DATES

Submission Deadline: March 7, 2025 (midnight)

Selections Announced via email: March 10, 20205

Delivery of Artwork: March 17-21st, from 9 - 6 pm

Exhibition Dates: April 3 - May 9, 2025

Opening reception: April 3, 2020, from 5 - 7 pm

Pick up artwork: May 12 - 16, 2025, from 9-6 pm

ELIGIBILITY

You must be an LMA member in good standing.  Attended at least two (2) meetings in the last 12 months (waived for those juried into LMA in the last six months). 

Only works created within the last 3 years and not previously exhibited in any other LMA show will be considered.

VENUE - Wisconsin Lutheran College - Schlueter Art Gallery at the Center for Fine Arts and Performance, located at 8815 W. Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee.

Open Monday - Friday, 9-6 pm; Saturday, 10-5 pm; Sunday, 1-6 pm

• Wisconsin Lutheran will take a commission of 35%
• Wisconsin Lutheran will take care of sales tax and mail checks to the artists the week following the close of the show.

ARTWORK GUIDELINES

• All 2D artwork must be framed - wired, with no sawtooth hangers- and properly finished if gallery-wrapped. 
• No work should protrude more than 4” from the wall when hung for safety reasons.
• Please adhere a label on the back of each piece that includes the name, title, media, and selling price. 

DELIVERY OF ARTWORK                                                                                                   

Drop-off work is March 17-21st between 9 - 6 pm. Parking can be found along Wisconsin Avenue. There is also a loading zone in front. When entering the art building on Wisconsin Avenue, you can walk to the top of the stairs or take the elevator to level two. When you reach level two, the gallery will be on the right. There will be a student sitting across from the gallery that can let you in to drop off your artwork.

If you prefer, you can set up a time to meet with Professor Kristin Gjerdset at (414)335-9574 and deliver your artwork. 

AWARDS

The awards ceremony for the show will be held by the LMA.

• Best of Show – $150.00
• First Place – $100.00
• Second Place – $75.00
• Third Place – $50.00
• Honorable Mention – $25.00

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

• Use the LMA website for submissions under the Exhibitions tab.
• Images of artwork need to be JPG or JPEG files with only the title of the work in the file name. Example: "titleofartwork.jpg."  When naming the submitted file, please omit "The" or similar words from the title.  
• There is no need to include your name in the file name; it comes attached to your application.
• The maximum total for all uploads together cannot exceed 15 MB.
