Current Call for Art

• You must be a LMA member in good standing.  The requirement of attending two (2) meetings in 12 month period has been reinstated.  All other requirements apply.  For information about how to become a member, visit the "Join LMA" page. 

• ONLY WORKS THAT HAVE BEEN CREATED WITHIN THE LAST 3 YEARS AND HAVE NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY EXHIBITED IN ANY OTHER LMA SHOW WILL BE CONSIDERED.

The League of Milwaukee Artists is seeking immediate artists' submissions for our upcoming members' fall/winter show, “School of Art – LMA,” at the Richeson School of Art & Gallery, running from October 31, 2025, through January 10, 2026.

The “School of Art - LMA” will help promote the Mel Tess Scholarship and provide an opportunity for two local high school students pursuing a degree in fine arts to experience what it is like to judge a show and explore the wide range of creative possibilities open to them as artists. 

Heather Schafer, an art teacher at Kimberly High School, along with two of her top students, will be the judges to determine the awards.

Please note that entry into the show is not juried; the awards will be determined by our three judges. Artists are encouraged to submit two pieces of artwork consistent with the theme of your best work or “Master’s Thesis”.

A minimum of 45 pieces and a maximum of 65 are needed. Each artist will have their first entry accepted into the show. Based on the number of artists who enter, we will then select your second submission in the order in which the entries were received, to help us reach the 65-piece maximum. 

Please note that for this show only, the requirements of two meetings/year, no piece over 3 years, and no piece in a previous LMA show are all waived. If you are an LMA member, you can submit any piece you like, provide it meets the following guidelines –

ARTWORK GUIDELINES

• Maximum size is 36” and 50 lbs, includes 3D entries (if you bring your own pedestal).
• Please no nudes.
• All 2D Artwork must be framed - wired, no saw-tooth hangers, and properly finished if gallery-wrapped.
• For safety reasons, no work should protrude more than 4” from the wall when hung.
• Please adhere a label to the back of each piece that includes name, title, media, selling price, phone number, address, and email address.

Gallery Hours Monday - Thursday: 10-5

• Richeson will take a commission of 25%
• Richeson's will generously provide the drinks and hors d'oeuvres at the reception.
• Richeson will take care of sales tax and mail checks to the artists the week following the close of the show.

KEY DATES 

• Submission Deadline midnight September 25th
• Confirmation of selections via email on September 30th
• Delivery of Artwork October 20th – 22th 9:00am – 4:00 pm
• Exhibition opens October 31, 2025
• Reception and Awards November 14, from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
• Exhibition ends January 10th
• Pick up artwork January 12th – 14th 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

AWARDS

Awards for the show will be from the LMA.

• Best of Show – $150.00
• First Place – $100.00
• Second Place – $75.00
• Third Place – $50.00
• Honorable Mention – $25.00

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

• Use the LMA website for submissions under the Exhibitions tab.
• Images of artwork need to be JPG or JPEG files with only the title of the work in the file name. Example: "titleofartwork.jpg." Please omit "The" or similar words from the title when naming the submitted file.
• There is no need to include your name in the file name; it comes attached to your application.
• The maximum total for all uploads cannot exceed 15 MB.
