Current Call for Art

• You must be a LMA member in good standing.  The requirement of attending two (2) meetings in 12 month period has been reinstated.  All other requirements apply.  For information about how to become a member, visit the "Join LMA" page. 

• ONLY WORKS THAT HAVE BEEN CREATED WITHIN THE LAST 3 YEARS AND HAVE NOT BEEN PREVIOUSLY EXHIBITED IN ANY OTHER LMA SHOW WILL BE CONSIDERED.

The League of Milwaukee Artists is seeking artists' submissions for our upcoming members' summer exhibition, Opposites Attract, at the Anderson Arts Center, 6603 3rd Avenue, Kenosha.

Artists are encouraged to submit artwork consistent with the theme, Opposites Attract -  think Fire/Ice, Oil/ Water, Happy/Sad, Few/Many, Loud/Quiet, Dark/Light and so on to create a cohesive piece that incorporates opposites attracting. 

Maximum size is 4’ x 4’ framed. 

Family-friendly & non-controversial work only.

You can submit up to 3 entries for consideration. 

60 pieces will be selected for the show. 

The judge will be Troy Tatlock, Plein Air Artist.

KEY DATES 

Submission Deadline: May 15th

Selections Announced via email: May 22nd

Delivery of Artwork:  May 27th through May 29th from 10 am – 3 pm

Exhibition Dates: June 21st through August 23rd

Opening Reception Date: June 28th, 1 – 4 pm, awards will be announced at 2 pm.

Pick up artwork: Aug 4th through Aug 5 from 10 am – 4 pm

Note: Other arrangements can be made for pickup by calling or emailing the key contact at the Anderson Arts Center for an alternate pickup date/time if the times above do not work for the artist.

The Anderson Arts Center will sell the artwork at the price specified by the artist.  No discounts will be offered for the sale of artwork.

The Anderson Arts Center commission will be 40% of the selling price and will cover sales tax.

The Anderson Arts Center agrees to pay the Artist within thirty (30) days following the end of the exhibition.  

The Anderson Arts Center will insure the artwork for its full price as the insurance value.

The Anderson Arts Center will hang the show and create labels based on the information you supply in the online submission. 

ARTWORK GUIDELINES 

• All 2D artwork must be framed - wired, with no saw-tooth hangers- and properly finished if gallery-wrapped. 
• Artwork on paper should be covered with glass or plexiglass – plexiglass is preferred as the Anderson Arts Center will not be responsible for broken glass. 
• Please affix a label to the back of each piece that includes your name, the title of the piece, medium, and selling price. 

AWARDS 

The awards ceremony for the show will be held by LMA as part of the opening reception. 

• Best of Show – $150.00
• First Place – $100.00
• Second Place – $75.00 
• Third Place – $50.00 
• Honorable Mention – $25.00 

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES 

• Use the LMA website for submissions under the Current Call for Art tab https://milwaukeeartists.org/current-call-for-art
• Please follow the directions in the Application requirements
• Each artist is asked to submit up to three pieces. We are aiming for 60 pieces in total.
• Each artist is asked to send a one-page resume and a one-paragraph biography.
• These files should be PDFs, should be titled “Resume.pdf” and “Bio.pdf.”

              o These will be used by the gallery and for promotion and publicity, and to have the 

                  artist's information available at the gallery during the exhibition. 

              o There is no need to include your name in the file name; it comes attached to 

                 your application.

For each piece submitted - 

• The image of the artwork needs to be a JPG or JPEG file with only the title of the work in the file name. Example: "titleofartwork.jpg." When naming the submitted file, please omit "The" or similar words from the title. 
• There is no need to include your name in the file name; it comes attached to your application.
• Each artist should submit a description of the artwork and how it relates to the theme of the show – Opposites Attract. This file should be a PDF file and titled “themetitleofartwork.pdf.” 
• Each artist should submit the title, medium, and selling price.
• The maximum total for all uploads together cannot exceed 15 MB.
• The final step of the submission process to ensure your entry was received is to email the Webmaster at dowonhkd@gmail.com. Don’t forget to include your name in the email.
