“REFRESH THE SOUL” ~ A “BIG” SHOW AT OVATION CHAI POINT

This is a BIG works show sponsored by and to be held at the Ovation Chai Point on Prospect Avenue in Milwaukee. The title is provided by Randy Crosby, coordinating the exhibit for art Ovation, inspired by the words, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life,” quoted by art critic Aline Saarinen as attributed to Pablo Picasso.

Our juror and judge, Beki Borman, has shared the results:

  • $125 Best of Show. May Klisch. “Shore To The Woods”
  • $100 First Place. Ruth Vonderberg “Mezzaluna"
  • $75 Second Place. Kathryn Wedge  “Petals II”
  • $50 Third Place Ken Vonderberg.   “Strömma Canal”
  • $25 Honorable Mention. Julia Pagenkopf.  ”Orchid Dance”

Congratulations to the winners.

Beki also shared her impressions:

"...First may I say that it was a privilege to jury this show. All the work was beautifully presented and all looked better in person than on screen. (As you know this is not always the case!) I thought the hanging was well done, as works that were vastly different in style or media still felt as though they (complemented) one another and the theme. In making my decisions, I first looked at initial impact and then skill, uniqueness, and adherence to the theme. It was hard to make some final determinations but I am confident in my choices for awards. Thanks again for this opportunity."

We are in turn very grateful to Beki Borman for her time jurying and judging the works in person.  As I mentioned previously, this is a very beautiful show and it's wonderful that it's already being enjoyed by the viewers from the start.
